Dr. Juan Román works at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Goddard Space Flight Center (GSFC) since 1988. Throughout his professional career, he has occupied multiple technical and management positions each one encompassing greater visibility and responsibility. Dr. Román is currentlythe Deputy Director of the Applied Engineering and Technology Directorate. As a senior executive, he provides leadership to a large organization responsible for designing missions, building satellites and science instruments, and acquiring and distributing data focusing on Earth and Space sciences, Human Exploration and Operation, and Space Technology development.In addition to his work at GSFC, Dr. Román is an adjunct faculty member at the Johns Hopkins University where he lectures graduate level courses. His research interest focuses on Technology Management and Innovation, Systems Analysis and Design, and Knowledge Management.
